I thought this might be of interest. One of the very few references I've found came from this forum a few years ago, saying the camera was hard to find. It is!

Yup, I remember reading about this (and seeing the same picture) in Pop Photo at that same time. I don't remember ever hearing anything about why they didn't go ahead with it, although the lack of long-term success of the Minolta CLE suggests it probably was a smart move on Bronica's part to take a pass.
