Bruce Gilden with a X100

I'd like to find this same video in English.

Those grab street shots look quite good enlarged hanging on a wall. Actually much better than I would have thought.

It's kind of surprising he would switch to the X100 with the 35mm. Gilden has always been a 28mm shooter. Must be nice though to not worry about changing film in the street and the higher ISO capability.

This was produced for a french TV Station ARTE who also broadcasts it in german and french only (to my knowledge).

I peeked to see if maybe he had the 28mm converter on it, nope.

A couple of years back I sold my early X100.

Recently I began using a X100T

Now the AF (even with the OVF) is fast enough to keep up with Gilden.

But the flash won't cut it!

(I wonder if Gilden shoot raw?)

yes, gilden is fun to watch ... replayed "Everybody Street" a few days ago and giggled my way through his cuts: shuffle, shuffle, shuffle, BAM, shuffle, shuffle, shuffle, BAM ...

I'd think he'd be shooting hyperfocally or at least in manual focus with a preset distance...just like his non-AF Leicas. You can dumb it down to a basic camera. I'm sure he's enjoying the workflow speed (or, his assistants are, anyway).

You know what, though it is possible he owns the X100 as a personal digital camera, it is very very likely that he didn't bring a camera on the trip and they wanted to get a few shots of him walking around shooting so the producer or something gave him his X100.

I work in TV - we would do **** like that.

You are likely right.

We all know Gliden is passive, malleable and cooperative. He would do anything to make a TV producer happy. It would be very typical for a Magnum phtographer to go on a trip and not bring a camera along.
