Dear All

Developed a roll of ADOX CMS 20 this morning. Have found it extremely easy to develop in the past and have had no problems.

There are tiny bubbles all over the film - on the fogged leader as well. I've tried washing a strip again and it's made no difference.

The only thing I can think of that could have made a difference is that I didn't check the temperature of the distilled water for my final wash - it's kept in the bottom of my kitchen cupboard and it's been cold in the SE of England the last couple of nights. Any one had these bubbles before ?.

CMS 20 is an absolutely fantastic film, BTW, for those who haven't tried it.

Temp of final wash should not be the issue. Did you use a stop bath after the developer? I use just water, as I've read that the reaction of the basic developer with the acidic stop bath can cause pin-head sized bubbles in the emulsion. Could this be it?

I used Ilfostop, Frank, as I did on the first roll I shot in Venice. The first roll is flawless. The Adox instructions say you should use an acid stop bath. It's really peculiar.

Stop bath (too concentrated) or cristal deposits from distilled water, but I agree with Frank.

Thanks Patrick. I won't use stop bath next time, but as I say I have used it before with the same film with no adverse effects, and the tech sheet with the film specifically says a stop bath MUST [their emphasis] be used.

Perhaps I just made a mistake and made the solution too strong.
