Hi!
There is one swedish camera store who sells the Leica M-E brand new for $3300. It's a good price but is the camera worth it in 2015? I now use a Fuji x100t after years of film leicas. But i hate that the fuji is not as responsive. I cant really zone focus it and just click. Any thoughts?

If this is your only issue with digital, then look for a better digital camera. Film cameras are there for a reason, but that reason is not mainly that they can zone focus. :D

Haha! Im just so used with the rangefinder. I dont know how to work autofocus, im allways to slow. I miss my moments with the X100t. Any other cameras that i can look in to? Optical viewfinder is a plus.

Sounds a bit on the high side.. I paid $4,000 for a well used M9 in 2013 from a Leica dealer, it had be checked over by Leica and gave it a clean bill of health before my purchase..haven't had any issues.. Not sure how much you want to spend might think about a used M240

I can certainly see what you are talking about with the X100T. I had the same feeling.

If you don't mind waiting, X-Pro2 will come in mid January with the hybrid OVF that is in X100T that will allow you to mount and focus any manual lens you want.

I guess, but it still do that thing when it confirms the exposure. It is just slow.

ok, so 33k for a new one is a bit expensive?

Yes, I would say so... Also I thought the X100T can zone focus.. I don't have one, but I thought I read somewhere that you could.. I could totally be wrong

ok, the x100t can do it, but there is a lag when shooting, even if the camera is in fully manual. I have to half press first if i want it to just snap.

What felt laggy for me was the time it took for the aperture to close. But the lag time after you half press should be ~11msec. Leica has a shutter lag of ~125msec.

That is true. Maybe u should just take som more time to adjust? I am so used to just set up the camera and click in a split second. Maybe i should just keep tha camera half pressed when out shooting.

That's why I suggested the X-Pro2 with a manual lens. The total shutter lag should be ~35msec then. No need for half pressing :) .

That may be an option, why not the x-pro1?

Because you can't focus an adapted lens with the OVF of the X-Pro1.
The hybrid OVF (the "digital rangefinder" of X100T) in X-Pro2 will allow you to see a digital patch of the image while in OVF and thus focus.

Yes, I agree, in the US the M-E is $4800 new. I almost bought a used one from Tamarkin last week for $3300 but went for an M-9P instead. That seems like a good price.

slightly, but not really, OT: i have the original x100. i zone focus all the time for street shooting, and when doing so i set it to MF on the front of the camera. in five or more years i have not had a single instance of 'lag' when doing this. i just press the shutter button and it goes off--there is nothing for it to do but shoot. i just dont understand where this 'lag' you guys are speaking about comes from...

If 3,300 is not a good price for a new M-E then I would ask that person for his source on new M-Es that are less expensive.

If I was looking for a new Leica digital M that price would certainly attract me immediately.

And I totally fail to understand how any Fuji is a better camera than a full frame Leica. They just look like a Leica, they certainly don't work like one. But if all you are really looking for is a camera that "looks" like a Leica then it will work.
