Buying a 35mm or MF Rangefinder

Given what you say in your OP, I'll swallow my first impulse - it may be big but that Canon A2 is, frankly, one of the finest cameras made by any company at any time. I have an A2E that I consider the finest electronic camera made. That said, you're looking at a very different kind of mess, aren't you?

I'd suggest the GA645zi for your needs. Though, honestly, I've found my A2E easier to pocket than any MF camera.

A miniture RF like the Olympus XA will always be at the mercy of it's almost non-existant baseline. The lens is good, but I recently sold mine because its just too small for real work.

In the end, what I use for what you're talking about is a 2x3 Speed Graphic with a RH10 6x7 back for it. I'm spending $130 to get the RF professionally adjusted so that I just can go and shoot. That old 105/3.5 CZJ Tessar is as good as it gets. Why futz with the rest of it?
