I'd be grateful for advice as to where I could stock up on film (120 and 135) at the beginning of my stay in Japan. Tri-X would be my first choice but I'd settle for Neopan (400 and 1600) if Tri-X is hard to come by locally and/or the Fuji stuff is significantly cheaper.
Many thanks in advance.

No problem finding Tri-X in Japan. This is a film lovers paradise! Not sure how prices compare to Neopan though.
I recommend going to one of the big chain stores such as Yodobashi Camera, Bic Camera etc. and stocking up there. Be sure to make a point card at your first purchase as the big chain stores give you 8-10% of the purchase price of any items in points that can be used later to purchase items in the store. 1 point equals 1 yen and they can add up fast! You might need to fudge a Japanese address though.

Bought last week a 20 rolls box of 135 neopan 400 (36) for 8.000 yen. A single roll goes for 440 yen. I think TriX is about that price. And yap, you will have no problem to find film or anything camera related in japan..
