Hello,

I live in Madrid, Spain. I find the prices of Hong Kong Supplies incredibly low (http://www.hksupplies.com/). For instance, the Summilux 75-M costs 1,900 euros in Hong Kong, including shipping and asurance. The list price in Spain is 3,200 euros. Leica's 30% offer is 2,300 euros.

My question is if these HK shops (and HK Supplies in particular) are serious and reliable, and if the guarantee of Leica holds in Europe for these items bought in Asia.

Thanks.

Hi,

I have bought already at HK Supplies. The man (his name is Poon) is nice and reliable. He did not charge anything for transport (about 10 days to Brussels) and I paid very little customs tax for he declared a very little amount for the good purchased (which is nice if you don't put your gear in your bookkeeping).

As far as Leica guarantee, I could not tell.

But regarding HK Supplies, you can sleep quietly: you will get your Summilux for the price your agreed on.

good luck,

Mehari

Low value declaration is nice if you can trust the seller to pack everything up properly as this is the value of the freight insurance. A €2500 lens declared for €500 and damaged in handling => only €500 refund...

But I agree that Poon is a nice and honest man in business. I bought a light meter a few years back and received it very quickly. My tip is to compare the price in his webshop and on eb*y as they can differ a bit. There is a link from the webshop to his eb*y store.

I have done some minor business with them, no problems, but then again I live in china, although still if I get something higher value they have to screw with the customs declaration.

Ruben, remember that in law, you have to pay VAT when you're importing items from countries outside UE.
You may well choose to cheat as suggested above but don't travel too much and stay away from places like borders, ports or airports where there are customs agents...
