Every day a Spitfire takes of from Biggin Hill and races around the valley in front of our house .
For , I think , £1500 , you could enjoy a trip in the two seat Spitfire .
The main road goes past the end of the runway , recently we were perfectly placed to have the Spitfire take off right over the bonnet/hood .
I could not have timed it better.
Quite a thrill as the planes don,t usually get so close.

I have mostly been attending the Biggin Hill Airshow for many years , back in the day , before increasing safety measures , Ray Hanna as the final performance , would perform a balletic demonstration to music in the dying light of the evening, transforming a killing machine into an object of beauty.
The sole combination which seemed to work with the airshow was a 4/3rds Panasonic L1 with Minolta 135 f3.5 lightweight zoom with aperture set and at infinity .
It has never worked with an EVF , but the X-Pro 1 awaits ...

Hi,

Two seats suggests a conversion for training, I think Ireland and some other country had them done.

I went to the first air show at Biggin Hill after the war, they didn't let us take cameras in, in those days and we all had to hand them in on entry. OTOH, I did get to fire a 20mm cannon and scrounge the empty shell, which I have long lost.

Regards, David

Yes , it as converted post war for use in Ireland from a 1944 plane which had seen active service .
The price is £2750 for 20mins , It's almost worth it to me .
