Is it normal to hear a weak buzzing sound from the light meter/arrows when going from low or hi into "normal" light conditions? like an electro magnetic relay or something...
micromoogman, move aperture ring say, 24 or 36 times from f16 to f1.7 and try metering again. We have discussed this issue in recent topics...wait, it's "E35GSN battery cold shower", near end. And yes, it's not normal.
I did some aperture ring "aerobics" 😉..and I must say, it went away. Just a silent "tik" is heard when the light goes on.. Just as You mentioned , like an EM relay of some kind.
hehe..."aperture aerobics" (what a good term, really!) helped me for a week, then I got very weak buzzing back.
So I hadn't other choice as to pull out front element to access contacts - pain 'cause filter ring is...were badly dented. Right after cleaning contacts I were able to get SMALL buzz between f5.6 and f4 but after sitting for two hours even it has gone. Question - for how long? I'll let it sit dismantled for some days to see it cleaning really helped. Yeah, cleaning and real fixes help more often than "brothers gonna work it out" approach.
P.S. Seems I can already start looking for replacement filter and retaining rings. Any ideas except "snatch mint GSN for less than $80" ?
oh ! I think i have exactly the same thing on my GM1. I didn't know that was a problem even if i found that a bit weird... So tonight, i'll spend some hours moving this ring, back and forth, back and forth, back and fort !!!
Thank's for the tip 🙂
