Outback Photo has published a story with a link to a full resolution 4K still frame taken from a Panasonic GH4. Original photo by Nick Driftwood (used with permission). Follow the link and instructions to see the full resolution bw conversion. Quite impressive.

I remember reading (might have been The Digital Journalist, a site now defunct) that some US newspapers are moving to video-only capture and grabbing frames from that. From the quality of this frame, that looks quite plausible. Would lead to an editing time sink, no doubt.. finding the decisive one-in-1800 moment in every minute of 30fps video 😱

I'm not sure.. would need to look at the specs. I'm not a video person (at least, not currently).

It's approximately 8-16 Megapixels, depending upon the format.

Nope...instead of triggering the shutter at the right moment, you just edit for the decisive moment.

Nikon built that into the Nikon one already 🙂 out of of burst, the camera can figure out the best shot 😛 was one of their claims to fame in the original comercials.

Looks like the Panasonic GH4 will give 4096x2160 at 24p, or about 8.85 megapixels.
