Bystander, a history of street photography, $10

thanks for pointing this one out. I'm going to have to look for it. I'm currently afflicted with something much, much stronger than GAS, and that's BAS (book acquisition syndrome). I gots it bad. 😎

That book is a really good read! I bought some years ago already and when I started reading it, I finished it in "one" go.

Highly recommended and the book showed the evolution of Street Photography from the 1800s to today. I love the discourse between the authors on Winogrand and his dedication (obsession) to his art.

Argh, now I can't wait for it to get here ! I ordered another $5 one (to 'fill' shipping charges), Regarding Manhattan, looked interesting.

BAS -went to the annual Friends of the Library booksale in Charlottesville this past weekend and found copies of Matanle's Classic SlR's and Classic Cameras. No shipping charges. Saw a copy on Graflex cameras but passed it up.
I have my share of Soviet photo books

Got it !

Got it !

It arrived last week, Daedalus international shipping is a bit slow and when they say 'sent by sack' they mean exactly that 🙂

But it's an incredible book, with a fantastic trip through the story of street photography. For $10 it's a gift !!!

The second one I got, regarding Manhattan has resulted to be full of really pleasant street scenes.

So I can highly recommend both !!

Received mine through Alibris books today, great book. And really great for $10.90, brand new.

hey, let's organize a reading group! i slacked off a little, so i wouldn't mind reading from the beginning. read one section a week and discuss it here. might be just for this one book, tho.

Just ordered one, too - but from German Amazon - it is only slightly more (12.80 Euros), and should ship a bit faster (plus, no potential hassle with customs...)

I've just placed an order and it's on its way. I hesitated at first, because the reader reviews on Amazon were somewhat mixed. However, RFF members have been giving it good reviews, so now I have some MORE summer reading to do. 🙂

I tried I don't know how many times to place an order, and the shopping cart just doesn't work for me. I tried using different browsers. I also tried to find if they have a contact number so I could place an order by phone, no luck; so I gave up. Any suggestions?

hmmm. I went through Amazon, searched by "Bystander" and clicked on the "Availability" link that had sellers that could ship in 1-2 days. I was given an option of ~24 different bookstores, all of which had "Add to Cart" buttons. From there I went to checkout.

Well originally the book was not in stock and that is why it didn't appear in your cart. Their software didn't seem to know how to deal with that situation. Now the whole site is down.
