In a recent thread I stated that I found the bokeh of the C/V 50 Nokton similar to that of the 35 Nokton. Others disagreed. I took the following photos this morning with the M8. The two lenses are different, but not hugely so. My hope is that the following samples will help show what I mean. Others please post, particularly if your experience is different than mine.

The 35 is definitely smoother/softer in OOF areas. but clearly has more DOF

Interesting. The way I see it, the lenses do have different renderings, but in the same family or similar flavors. I think the 35 has more DOF because it is a wider angle lens. But when I look at defined areas, such as the blue flowers behind the tulips, I don't really see that much difference in how the areas are rendered. Actually, now that I look at some of the reeds in the FF shots, there is a halo to some of them in the 50 shot that reads like uncorrected coma compared with the same reeds in the 35. Is this what you are focusing on (if you will pardon the pun)?

Yeah, the 35 has a little smoother look, but, the added DOF of the Fl shows a bit more detail in the blue sample. Both are good though.
One of things I liked about the 50 Nokton, was the more muted details in OOF areas. Probably because it a bit narrower DOF and therefore a little less detail...What I like anyway. The other thing I liked was way it renders OOF edges... they still have a nice definition and feathering is not all over the place.

definite family resemblance...makes me think about getting the 50 someday.
