I recently acquired a nice C4 kit with original case, argus meter and booster, flash, timer and bag (the camera case, meter and bag are all embossed in gold with the previous owner's name).

Anyhow, the C4 is in really excellent shape (excluding a ding on the front-left top plate). The shutter on this thing is pretty neat and the speeds are faster as you go up to 300 on the dial but the shutter seems far to slow to my ears/eyes for 1/300 sec!

The shutter seems to move very smoothly and nicely.

The question is: does my shutter perhaps seem slow to you?

I know this is an almost impossible to answer question given the context in which I am asking but any help would be great!

Argus shutters rarely run at the stated speed. Most are somewhat slower. The C4/44 series also suffer from grease and oil migrating onto the shutter leaves causing them to bind. This will snap the small link that drives the shutter open and closed. Most C4s I've seen have required the shutter to be cleaned for best operation.
