C41 Processing for 120 film. $0.84/roll

It's quite clear from reading many of the posts that some people are doing the Walmart "SEND OUT ONLY"... Wrong!

CARDINAL RULE 1)
DO NOT talk (speak, verbally interact with, converse with) store employees on Walmart processing.

CARDINAL RULE 2)
Read cardinal rule 1)

Cardinal Rule 3)
Rinse and Repeat

Find the envelopes, Fill out the envelopes (Cross out the normal processing section, in the Special Instruction section state the type of film and "Process and Sleeve". Drop the envelope in the Fuji Kiosk slot, or hand it to a person behind the photo desk. Some parting pleasantry is acceptable, based on your own humanity.)

Leave the store.

Reread CARDINAL RULE 1. Pricing will be written on the envelope on return. In years of using this process myself at Walmart, pricing has been inconsistent, but it has never been high or unacceptable.

I won't bother to ask you to "trust me" on this.

If you don't.....:bang:

FOLLOW THIS MAN'S ADVICE!!! 🙂

One of us paraphrased the other. No worries. Just do it. According to the above.

Virtually identical thoughts from bofus.

Venchka and I are almost word for word on the Walmart procedures.

I, in fact, in an older post, posted pictures of the Fuji envelopes as to how to fill them out for E6 and C-41, and how the prices are listed on the envelopes.

To elaborate a tiny bit here, I have access to two Walmarts within driving distance. An older store and a four year old Super Store.

The Super Store does NO in house processing and are "glazed eyes" when you try to talk to them. But they know how to put the SEND OUT only envelopes in the shipping bag (their own freight trucks), and they know how to call you when the film comes back. That is the entirety of their knowledge.

The older store does 135 processing, but instantly develope "glazed" eyes when you ask about 120. That is the entirety of their knowledge. They also know how to put the SEND OUT only envelopes in the shipping bag, and how to call when the film is back.

Neither store is familiar with prices, AND neither store knows how to correctly use the price sheet that is under the counter.

In my case, all film goes to Fuji. If Fuji does not process an emulsion, I understand by talking with Fuji (Fuji number on the envelope) the film is forwarded to another lab.

The locations for processiing differs around the country, and the stores do not often know which labs are used (DUH!!!!!).

I do know that Duanes (Dwaynes?), is in the loop for my location as a secondary lab. If Fuji forwards any of my film to Duanes, it does not seem to affect the ten day turnaround I have come to expect.... Ten days, plus possibly 2 depending on weekends intervening... I get a call.

The price is on the envelope at pickup. I've never paid over $7 that I can recall, and rarely that much. I shoot only 6X9. Process and sleeve. Occasional prints, but not often.

I have never lost a roll through Walmart, and all processing has been acceptable to very good.

I too have similar experience.
Once, and only once, I deviated from my normal routine and dropped a roll of Fuji 160s 220 at "the other Walmart in my neighborhood." Never to be seen again. Needless to say, I did not go back to "the other store."
The gentleman who is at the film counter most often at "my Walmart" actually said that he had some Kodachrome in his freezer back in December. That qualifies him for the Nobel Prize among Walmart folks. We chat and he recognizes me and knows my film habits. Now that I have said this, I may never see him again. Such is the way of the world.
In about 2 years I may look into a position at Walmart. I will be the "the guy who knows what film is and what to do with it." For now, that position is occupied by 2 gentlemen older than me. YIKES!

Okay so here's the update. Just called Walmart, and they have my film back after two weeks. The kid sounded VERY put out when I asked him what the cost will be. He huffed and puffed and it sounded like he slammed the phone down. So he came back and said looks like 11.00 for all Seven rolls of 120 and one roll of Tri-X.

So now I just have to see what they look like.

That' averages 1.37 a roll. 🙂

WOW, if the result is good, I will start thinking about selling my JOBO 😱

I am satisfied and will be using them from now on.

Some rolls were .84 and some a wee bit more but no more than 1.80.

I never ask if they will process B&W film. Something tells me there is mention here at RFF that they DO NOT process B&W film. Besides, I do my own B&W processing. Too cheap. Too easy. And i know who to blame if I screw up.
