This year's fire season has affected virtually everyone in the state.
We've plenty of Golden State members so...
This was North Berkeley aka Gourmet Ghetto today around 11:00am

Wurster Hall at UC Berkeley 10am 9.9.20

The local TV news showed some dramatic photos of the sun over LA, with an orange sun and sky.

Prayers for all there. It can't be any fun.

We've seen the smoke for the last few days but today is the first I can smell it...there is some ashes on the cars and other things and there are fire planes flying overhead...a few weeks ago there was something close by and the helicopters were flying right over our house...

Thinking of all RFFers in the US caught up in this at the moment, along with the untold numbers of wildlife. I hope your Emergency Services have a clear warning system that allows you to implement your own personal fire plans, and leave early if you are in the path of the firestorms you are experiencing.

Communities on the SE coast of Australia are still reeling from our last fire season, which was horrendous.

Stay safe and good luck.

Finally getting California and Oregon smoke up here in Western Washington. Must be a big anti-clockwise system off the coast bringing it up in south winds. NWS rates it is unhealthy to very unhealthy for the next three days.
Cannot even imagine how bad it is down where the fire is burning.

It's bad. Very bad.

We live with these fires in the West. It is horrible to see home get destroyed, and even worse people getting hurt/killed. I think better forest management techniques are needed, and are being called for.

Being in Illinois, I have no photos. however news has reported police caught a man in the act of starting a fire in highway median strip and live streaming it on facebook. He did not care about getting caught until the found the police were deputized by federals and not going to catch and release
local but to federal detention.

Also obvious most of the fires are started next to highways
by means of fire bombs thrown from moving cars.

Sad situation.

Too busy dismantling old solar panels which can't be recycled. Broken wind mills.

Yes, they need to clean brush at substations and high power line towers. Also need to have controlled burns. HIgh smoke related to density of burning forests.

I am fortunate to live in a suburb that is not typically at risk although we've had fires and had to evacuate....
