Cambo WA 5x4 Range Finder

I have a lovely Cambo Wide 5x4 camera with Super Angulon 47mm lens and Russian Rangefinder on the accessory shoe. I use it with a 6 shot Graphloc 5x4 back or the Shen Hao 6x12/6x9/6x7/6x6/645 combo back. The camera has rise and fall for those times when I use it on a tripod but I usually shoot hand held. The camera has a nice hand grip and the cable release is mounted through the handgrip to give a 'snapshot' like operation.

Obviously the rangefinder is not coupled but with the depth of field of the 47mm lens, (almost as wide as the 12mm on my voigtlander), I usually get the focus I need and to compensate for camera shake I usually shoot at 1/125-1/250th sec or faster (unless on the tripod). With 400ASA film that isn't much of a problem (1/400th @ f16 on a bright sunny day etc)

Sure, why not. But to be exact, it is a viewfinder camera, not a rangefinder.

You may want to think about an accessory rangefinder. They are small devices that can give object distances quickly. I use one with a Horseman SW612. They can be mounted to a camera's accessory shoe. Just check ebay.

Not a rangefinder, technically, but then we do have some shooters here with scale focusing 35mm and MF cameras that call them rangefinders even though they don't have coupled focusing.

Did you even read what he wrote? He said he had exactly that accessory "rangefinder". Now if you want to be real helpfull, tell us how we can add a coupled rangefinder. It can be done, but it's usually not worth the trouble.

I do have an accessory rangefinder on the shoe but it's a tacky Russian one. However, since the camera has a 47mm lens, the focusing only has to be dead accurate at close focusing distances.
I generally set it to hyperfocal distance at f8-22 which gives me up to 1 metre to infinity acceptable focus. When I do have to focus critically, I put the hood on and open up the lens.

Compared to my voigtlander and Diax though, it's a pretty poor point and shoot.
