Bought a second F5-XB Domke. First is 10 years old and still good. They did not offer black so I got the brown. Perfect small bag for M or Barnack cameras , There is no bottom corner protection and I decided to add some tape. Masking tape, painting tape, packing tape, nothing sticks, not even a little. I spotted a roll of Gorilla tape and tried that as it sticks to anything except this bag. Not even a little useless bit. So do not slide it around and will last a long time.

A wax refinish can comes with it so it is water resistant.

You can add a second strap or military belt to go around your waist. Original goes across chest. Dual straps to stop grab and run thieves . Also keeps it stable for when you are hiking.

They are great, compact bags and I also have two. I use one for 3 Barnacks with one for color, one B&W and one infrared.
For my second, I have a Hasselblad Super Wide (smaller than the average one as it doesn't have a reflex mirror) that fits beautifully with room for an extra back.

I've use my first one for seven years and have never thought about it needing extra protection in the bottom corners. It still looks great.

See if liquid electricians tape will work, just brush on the areas you want to protect. Likely will wear but re-applying should be easy.

Your observations about tape on the corners reminds me of a feature I often want, but seldom find - wear/water resistant underside. A lot of fashionable shoulder/duffle bags don't have raised feet on the bottom of the bag, nor do they have particularly sturdy or wear resistant material. The same goes for camera-sized satchel bags. There were a few shoulder bags from Crumpler, and a couple of bags by Australian brand Alpaka that have more sturdy material on the bottom, but this feature isn't common at all, probably due to cost.

My Domke F5Xb is 30 years old. Never had any corner or bottom protection, and is still perfectly serviceable. It's the old plain canvas, not the later waxed canvas. I spray it, very occasionally, with some Scotchgard fabric sealant to help it shed water and maintain its finish.

The feet on my Billingham L2 (itself now 20 years old) have scratched a few wooden tabletops over the time I've had it....

There are many bags made with reinforced and/or sturdier materials on the back and bottom, and feet. If these things are important to you, just look for those. :)
