I shouldn't be allowed out.

My mate said to me today, "Hey, at lunchtime let's go out to this pawnshop I've heard of, supposedly they've got a case full of cameras"

(That's pawnshop, not porn shop)

So we get there, and sure enough, a big cabinet full of about 20 SLR's, more p&s's than you can poke a stick at, big rack of lenses.

Unfortunately they didn't have a Leica IIIG or M3 (or even a Kiev IIA - the latest lust) sitting there cheap.
The damage ended up being a Canon EF 100-300 lens for the better half's EOS 630 (obligatory crawl job), a Mamiya 100-300 for my Mamiya ZE, and a Canon Prima underwater p&s.
Probably just as well there were no Rangefinders there - I still haven't finished the roll in the new Olympus SP.

Must...Not...Go...Anywhere...Near...Camera...Shops...

We don't really have pawn shops here in Amsterdam (at least not that I'm aware off). We only had a Cash Converters but I'm not sure that still exists.

And we have a remnant of the past: a municipal pawn shop. It has visiting day on Tuesday, and auction day on Monday. I've been thinking of going there for a few weeks now just to see what's on offer, but my limited bank account is preventing me from spending any money on cameras for the next month or two (must spend money on airplane tickets and such!).

Maybe just as well we don't have pawn shops.... :)

Pherdinand, I hope you're versed in Dutch. :)

The auction house of the "Stadsbank van lening"is on Nes 57, which is near the Dam square.

The website of the Stadsbank is http://www.sbl.nl .

Dank je, RML. Versed in Dutch, eh, i wouldn't say so, but i do find my way:)

Are you interested in a canonet28 (working only in full auto and at 1/30s in aperture priority)? :) The rangefinder is very well aligned, light seals new...

I assume things depend very much on what people bring in as collateral. Attending the viewing day will no doubt reveal more photographic gear on offer.

Please, we can do without the profanities!

My name is Frank. I am a camera gear addict.
