Camera Display Case

So,
you're the guys outbiding me over on the auction site.
You know I don't think my local camera shop has half of what I've just seen in your houses. All of you should feel very guilty, hoarding all those cameras, why thats pure glutony........pure camera glutony......................I'm jealous! 😉

I like the barrister's cases, but every one I've ever seen at auctions goes for way too much (I'm a cheapskate remember) to antique dealers. Still need to cut back my E***ing long enough to save for therapy with Joe, then have Richard over to play. That's it, no more auctions for me.... till I go pick up my latest goodies at the border anyway.

Things got slightly out of hand. It started with a Vito B and then the Agfa Isolette III. Then a couple of Retinas, a few more Retinas and a few more Retinas.

Then I made the mistake of buying a Zeiss-Ikon 35mm folder. And then at some point the whole thing mushroomed.

I have to say that I've used nearly every camera I've bought, and I've restored nearly every camera that I've bought. Lots of work, but usually gratifying.

Rigid self-control is the answer, clearly. I carefully but successfully rationalize every purchase. It has to be useful. Pentax H3 in '64, Spotmatic in '66, H3v, Leica M2 in '67, Pentax ES & Olympus 35RC in '72, P6x7 in '76, CLE in '82, big gap until recent years.

Out of nostalgia, I recently got a Heiland Pentax H3 like my original one through eBay, then enthusiasm carried me into an older model K. Wait a minute! That's collector-like activity! I quickly had both cameras CLA'd and ran rolls of film through them. Ok, they're now users! Whew, that was close. I am NOT a collector. Really.

Hello, my name is Doug, I haven't bought any camera gear for 38 days now...

Wow... Curt wins ! 😀

In fact that reminds me of my local classic store, they have a huge amount of items also... so bad they're priced for collectors and not users 🙁

Anyway I always like to pay them a visit from time to time, and wishper while looking at all those marvels inside their glass cabinets...

I have a project in mind to turn a book shelf into a display cabinet, some silica gel bags inside should keep fungus out of the game, and being closed with glass windows I won't have to worry too much about dust...

It didn't dawn on me to look for a Kodak or other manufacturer's display case. I will need to look through the antique shops. Actually there was a camera shop that is now selling, um, horse stuff, nick nack things. The last time I was in there they were in a transition period between photography and equestrian do dads. I wonder what is left, of the photography stuff I mean.

Display cases are great but usually quite large. I only have limited room available so prefer china cabinets. P.S. All my Polaroids both rigid and folding are in my garage on a shelf, with the 3 SX70's in a china cabinet. Gotta draw the line somewhere. P.S. like Doug, my name is Curt and I haven't bought a camera since...last night. Another Zenit 3M. From now on it's going to be lenses only, honest, LOL.
