"81C Filters

In cloudy or rainy weather, picture tends to become extremely bluish or cold in tone. This warm tone filter subdues the excessive blue and renders a natural reproduction of the color."

I believe it is a light balancing filter. It corrects color in the blue spectrum if I remember correctly.
Someone else might elaborate.

Bob has it- there are 81 a, b, and c filters. They are called warming filters, for color photography, and the letter indicates strength. A is weakest, C strongest.
One would use them to warm colors from open shade, cloudy, or misty conditions.
