Oops. Apologies that there is a similar thread a little ways down and a long debate over it being sexist.

Anyway, my wife probably doesn't want something as big as an Panasonic LX and I probably want to spend less than an S95 costs so I guess it's slightly different question.

So, suggestions for a good, small, maybe pretty colored (her request) point and shoot for my wife?

The screen on her little Canon went so the photos look very dim and the color is totally off. It still records the photos fine, but the screen drives her nuts. I told her to pretend it's film and just wait to see them on the computer but she didn't buy that.

I guess another Canon would be good or anything really. Just something that produces good out of camera photos that aren't overly saturated or over sharpened so when she makes an album of our vacation photos, I can bear to look at it. She really like the screen on my GRD III but I think being limited to 28mm wouldn't really work for what she likes to shoot.

I've had generally good experience with Canon P&S and so have my friends who own them, I'd recommend one (sorry not up to date on their catalog)

Since the screen on the last Canon went I decided to give Sony a try and ordered my wife a pink TX-5. They got pretty decent reviews and they are small and actually waterproof so we'll see. I think they have been replaced by a newer model, so I found one for about $250 which was what I wanted to spend.

If anything like my T30, I am sure she will be happy with your choice. Best truely portable p&s I ever had.
