To advise all members. I have attempted to make a purchase from this individual. He billed my credit card and no items received sent. Does not return emails or telephone calls. He has numerous complaints against him on other sites and sells through ebay with same results and complaints. I especially want to bring this to your attention as he lists many desireable and hard to find items for the Rollei 35 randgefinder cameras and there has been some discussion reference this camera recently with some purchases.

Sorry to hear of your trouble, Steve. That name does seem familiar somehow. Did you discover the bad stuff after you ran into trouble with him or before you committed to the purchase? How will you proceed in resolving this problem?

To answer some questions. He has a very nice website. thecamerahunter He advertises small hard to find items, especially, for the Rolleis. The average purchase is under $100. Therefore most people are willing to commit quickly which is what I did. You place the order via email. He then immediately (same day) does a credit card deduction and sends out an email that the item or items are sent via USPS. With the USPS there is no tracking number. After about a week...now remember these are small items, i.e., sunshades...you remember the purchase and attempt to contact via email. No response. Email again no response. Call...answering service without naming the company. Google the name and you will find many complaints. This is for everyone's information.

I bought a couple of things from this guy, too. They did eventually arrive, but they took so long to arrive that I almost thought I got ripped off as well.

This man has a very positive feedback, I think Steve has just been unlucky with his transaction.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Ive known about the camera hunter for some time, hes gained a little attention fro selling the square/rectangular lens hoods for Canonet Glll QL17's, he seems to be the only one with them. I started a purchase with him, then decided to look up some reviews, I didnt see any to be honest, but decided to back out and just order one from BH. If it persists, Id get with your local PD, give them his info, and file a report, and send him an email letting him know youve done so. Give him a little scare, see if he surfaces. Good luck!

But i will say, he does loads of business, I cant quite imagine someone who sells like he does as being dishonest.

OK, looks like I was wrong. The adapter showed up today. But still, this guy has 14 negatives on ebay in one month, 65 in 6 months and 129 in 12 months. That's not a good record and even though I received my adapter I won't be doing business with him again.

Don

He got me too for $25 for a lens adapter. Complaint is open with pay pal but will shortly be escalated to a claim.

Coastal/Jurisdictional differences. Also, the amount is a misdemeanor. It is probably more easily resolved via credit card company. The parts that he lists are hard to find and desireable but if they don't arrive...

I bought a lens cap and collapsable hood for my Rollie 35 off him and ran into no problems at all with any aspect of the transaction ... including time for delivery to the other side of the world!

I guess you can be unlucky! :)

if he is sending by the post office, then he his committing postal fraud and they take a very dim yiew of that. contact your post master

Follow up on my comments. I have traced the business of David Wombacher AKA thecamerahunter to 4311 N. Orchard St. Takoma, Washington 98407 On Photo.net there are a large number of compaints against him. They are in the nature of people being billed via credit card and merchandize not received. If you have had this problem you can contact Consumer Affairs Washinton State and/or FTC Both have compaint bureaus.
