i recovered my m2 earlier in the year with black seal grain as am very happy with the results .

now i would like to do the black m6 in either the claret bonded leather or the walnut goat skin .

so i would like to here from anyone who has tried the bonded leather or the kid skin . were you happy with the skin choices ? does the bonded leather feel cheap and unnatural ? is the kid skin worth the extra expense ?

thanks and photos are appreciated ( so are tactile experiences with the camera 🙂

I have no experience with the bonded, but did use the kid for my 35SP. At first I found the surface feel a bit slicker than "normal". However, that is obviously in comparison to the standard materials found on production cameras. I have had no problem with its "grippiness", though.

The colour I chose was verdigris, and I continue to find it beautiful. My only obsevation is that oil from my skin has discoloured (darkened) the leather in places where I grip. I don't know if this is common with the kid covers, with my colour, or just hidden on other materials with more texture. Hope this helps.

I guess I'm just too practical, plus I often use more than camera at a time. I prefer that they all look alike. Natural leather does tend to discolor from sweat and dirt from your fingers. The camerass that I've recovered with Cameraleather skins are a pretty good match for the original vulcanite.

thanks for the tips .

i did not really think about the discoloration of the kid skin for oily/sweaty hands . good point .

i am trying to recreate what i have been making with the leica configuration or as close to it .

i am leaning to the bonded leather but am afraid it would feel to imitation .

thanks for the replies

i was just looking at camera leather again before i order . has anybody tried the pebbled leather . i saw they offer a burgundy pebbled and was wondering about the texture and thickness .

thanks for your opinions
