And some of my best images were taken with my first serious camera, a Yashica TL Super SLR with 50mm 1.7 lens, though I longed for other lenses, if only because the camera offered such interchangeability.
My first photo taking was with box cameras, then my father's Welta Welti and 9x12 folder. Only one lens. I didn't know one could change lenses on any camera.
When I decided to get a 'serious' camera, I too ended up with a Yashica TL Super. I noted the instructions that you could interchange the lenses, and even went so far as to remove the 50mm f/1.7 just to confirm it could be done.
But with my past experience I just didn't see the point of the added expense or not moving if I needed to for a photo. I still have the TL and even use it occasionally, but in 35mm these days it is usually the Fujica ST901 or the Contax 167mt. With the Fuji mostly primes, and with the Contax usually zooms from 18mm to 150mm.
Now I would feel crippled with only one lens. And at my age I don't think I have time to limit myself for a year. I like my choices.
