I make my own, 1/2" leather with a sliding buckle, like Leica was making 40 years ago. It was good then and it's still my favorite. The parts cost me about $7 each, and it takes 10 minutes.

I have one of these and love it.

It stays where you put it...no sliding at all.

I've found almost all my straps in the '25 cents each' plastic tubs found at camera shows. Sometimes I find them in the communal 'FREE' tub at the same show.
Like Bob Michaels my preference is for the narrow woven nylon straps, especially since I value compact and lightweight cameras.

The plastic Leica strap that my daughter bought me from KEH to go with my Leica M3 is the best strap I have or have ever had. I love the way the D rings marry with the camera and the strap so quickly and easily!

please…no commerce conducted in threads, take it off-line!
granted, some of the older straps were simpler/better than what is generally produced these days. my largest dislike is the nikon type straps…hugh lettering in garish colours, so wide and metal buckles close to the camera body.
personally, i prefer a softer than leather and longer than normal strap…i cannot put a strap over my neck as it gives me an instant headache! so i need something that will go over the neck and land on my shoulder.

My apologies, it was unintentional.
Any suggestions for a nice wrist strap for my (new to me) rollei 35s?

i like the zhou wrist straps…a bit longer than most and enough room to get a glove through if shooting in the cold…plus pretty reasonable price.

Leica M nylon strap is second to none in my opinion. Also Contax G strap is pretty decent. I don't think all manufacturers make bad straps. That is mostly dslr titans that do, aka Nikon, Canon

As far as straps go, the simpler the better for me. Leica straps that come with the cameras are good and Voigtlander straps are even better. I love Gordy's straps, especially the wrist straps. Older RFFers will remember the days when every other SLR (not mine!) was suspended from something that looked as though it belonged on Willie Nelson's guitar.

I've gotten to where I like the 1" Domke Grippers with the swivels. Seems like I have a habit of twisting stuff up and the swivels help me out, even if it does add this extra junk at the connections. One of the most comfortable straps I have is the generic one that Smugmug hands out to it's customers. Ugly yes, but pretty comfy on my D200 with the battery pack. I could always use a sharpie and mark out the lettering since the strap is all black.
I think I would like to try a wrist strap on a few of my smaller cameras.

This is the strap that is on every camera I own except for my Deardorff 5x7: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=16174&Q=&is=REG&A=details
I have been using these straps for 15+ years now. I have never had one break, fail, come apart or crap out in any way. I have never had to replace one of these straps. I have never had a camera damaged or dropped as a result of these straps. They are the best, most functional straps you can get anywhere at any price IMHO.
And they are just $16 each.

Often as little as 1DM ( 0.50€ ) back in the day, when the Canon branded ones left behind in the store by new Canon owners ended up in the bargain bin...
