I was changing the battery in my trusty Minolta SR7 and behold the covering had after these few short years (50?) was looking a bit shabbier than I remember. I though back to an old sale on that money makin' site that had an older recovered body with a skin of I don't know what, but the scales were "lifting" up, Ugg don't want THAT! Anyone with any experence With a long lasting Lizard or maybe some other kind of exotic coverings?I can always just go back to a run of the mill leather or fake leatherette, but wanted to dresser up. Anyone have any experience went to a site called Camera leather but any time I tried to make a detailed inquiry the site kinda shut down .
 
I have recently used some self adhesive plastic sheet from a company called Heskins.
Basically its non slip plastic for wet room type applications.
That was on binoculars, but same principal.
Or any thin textured leather will do.
Use contact adhesive, but don't let it dry properly before you apply.
Almost every Contax SLR I have had needed re covering.
Almost as bad as 40/50's leica vulcanite.
 
Hit the thrift shop for some old handbags. Should be really easy to find some rad/ugly exotic looking imitation leather!
 
I have Minolta SRT's covered with green kangaroo, red ringneck lizard, and black griptac from Morgan Sparks at Cameraleather.

Not sure if he has made metal cutout dies for the Minolta SR-7, but you can send him the camera, he will laser-scan it, and make dies if necessary.

I sent him my Kiev 6c Ukranian SLR, and he covered it with Black and White Cobra Skin.
Ruined my neighborhood. 😱😱😱

Haha, all seriousness, Morgans site is missing big pieces right now, he has great kits, but I hate the wait.

Yes, HaHa, that is true. Everyone cuts me a wide berth 😱

If you contact Morgan in advance, I have found he bends over backwards to help you. I think he's a great guy, but overworked.

He might not have the SR-7 Minolta dies in-house, so he may want to add those to his inventory.
