More specifically Ontario or Quebec.
I have found Kindermann Canada. I am looking for other suggestions and feedback on relations with Kindermann Canada.
My M4-P viewfinder is a little hazy (I haven't gotten her yet, she's in the mail; the whole thing not just the viewfinder
). I don't suspect it's in of immediate attention, but I wanna know what my options are.
If you could also list prices for the service(s) you had performed, that would be lovely.
Regards,
corazon

Gerry knows Leicas inside out. His service is worth every penny!

Gerry at Kindermann recently CLA'd two M bodies and a lens for me. His work is absolutely top notch. And his turn-around is usually very fast. I recommend him unconditionally.

call Gord at Commercial Camera for price info. They are on Church St. Toronto, immediately south of Henry's on Church.

David Yau.
Local to Toronto folks.
I know Gerry @ Kindermann is popular but, having called them in the past for a quote - well.. $400 CAD for a CLA on an M6 was a bit much imho.
David Yau regularly does CLA's on mechanical Leicas for a very reasonable $125-$150 CAD - if you need parts it may cost you more but that's the general price I've seen from him.

You'll find his information in that thread.

I'll put in another vote for Gord at Commercial Camera. I haven't had him do any Leica work, but he's worked on my FED and my Nikons. I just got a quote today for a full CLA and seal replacement on a Nikon _ $102 which I consider very reasonable.

Dave, did that quote include anything extra like a VF upgrade or something of the sort? I only ask because Gerry charge me $285 for a full CLA on my M4 last month. Including taxes and $12 for small parts, the total came out to something like $340.

can't recommend Gord for Leica/rangefinder cameras... i don't think he's trained or has the necessary equipment and certainly not the parts to repair M cameras...

MJ, I suggested that Corazon 'call for price info' no recommendation. I've got an M4-P and I took it there 10 months ago. Your comment has made me curious did you have a problem with a Leica there?

Call Camtec photo in Montreal, they're pretty reputable Leica dealers.

On Dave's recommendations, I had David Yau repair my beloved CZJ 20mm f2.8 Flektogon. He did a tremendous job at a reasonable price - the lens is probably better now than it was when new. I would highly recommend David Yau as well.

Nope.. this was just a CLA.
It wasn't recent though - so I'll give him that - but even still $285 for a CLA is a lot of money when David Yau, who is also trained in Solms, will only charge $125-$150 depending on what's needed.

My M6 was up with David for a cla and picked it up yesterday. That's not even a week turnaround, I'm happy
Shutter curtains weren't in sync but after the work, it was testing near perfect. Also had some work done on a Seiko shutter for a lf lens so I have another avenue for large format repairs. Very decent gentleman and he'll be getting all my work, not that my M's will need it of course
And fyi, David trained Gerry so you can't go wrong with either of them.
