Camera shipments

I just read the thread in the Zeiss forus about missing shipments, shipments not left, and shipments gone astray.

My solution is all shipments of any value go to a local UPS Store, even Fed Ex. They are always there to receive and phone me when it happens. These are small business and you need to make arrangments with your local store first. Mine charges $3.

The free option is to address to the recipient and his phone #, c/o UPS or Fed Exp distribution point address. They will place the item on will call and notify you when it arrives.

I no longer worry about things going missing or rained upon. Smaller `burds may not have such easy access, but this will help lots of folks.

I never had problems with european,japanese or american mail. Allthough I am waitig for delivery from belgium for 17 days now.

That's an interesting suggestion, Ronald. I hadn't thought of the recipient's local UPS Store. I have a mailbox at my local UPS Store which makes it very convenient to receive packages securely, and I suppose for sending out they could look up their store local to the recipient, or the recipient could make the contact there and furnish the address.
