Can anyone recommend some camera stores in Atlanta, GA. Looking for some cheap/good gear.

Thanx!

EDIT: Whoops, my bad. Their website gives their sales office hours, and then says that they have no retail showroom. OK, confusing. Sorry if I steered you wrong. I've bought from them, but only mailorder.

That's OK. Good to know that they are so close to Florida in case I want to order from them over the internet. My intent is to go into Atlanta after work in Peachtree City and do some heavy Camera Fondling.

KEH says in a few places on their catalog & web page that they have no retail store, but you can make appointments if you're trying to sell it to them. They may actually let you come in if you're looking for something particular but they seem to take at least basic steps to ward off window shoppers. I don't know if there's more to it than that as I've never attempted to drop it. Seems a shame though - I'd love to see the candy store in person one day.

I browsed their website Bill. I like what I saw. ;)

They've always been known for being more than honest in their used camera descriptions. Usually the item is at least one step better than they describe it. And I am told that they take things back with no hassle. I have only purchased a zoom lens from them, it was just fine and a good price. Haven't had to return anything.

My sons bought a lens for me last Christmas from KEH and my youngest son drove there to pick it up. He was living in Marrietta at the time. He commented at Christmas that it's not the nicest part of town by any stretch. I visited he and his wife over the weekend in Kennesaw, just North of the city, and I asked him how bad it really was. His reply: "Take a gun!" He has lived around Hotlanta long enough to know the city and he wasn't laughing when he said it.

KEH is in a "not so good" part of town---but you don't need a gun! It just looks rough--but a mile from their store are some multi-million dollar houses.
They will let you pick up your stuff if you arrange it ahead of time--but no matter how nicely you ask--the warehouse seems off limits. "liability" and all that.
You'll enjoy Wing's---they are all great folks and it's toooo easy to spend $$$$$ there! Good luck!

I have gotten several items from a place called Quality Camera -- www.qualitycamera.com

I just checked to see if they're still around, and they are. They are located on Trabert Ave. Unfortunately their website is being revamped so you can't check the inventory on line.

When I used to go to Atlanta, I would go to Showcase Camera. It's over along the city line with Mariette I think. Big pro style store. But I haven't been in Atlanta for 10 years since my wedding.
