I needed a short strap for one of my cameras. SpeedGraphic had a neoprene one for £30, Gordy makes leather ones for $12.

The hardware shop next door to me sells nylon webbing just like original camera strap for €0.20 a metre, half a metre was just right. I glued the ends myself with PVA, and asked a neighbour who has a shoe repair business to stitch it for me.

Total cost €0.10, plus a coffee for my neighbour.

Anybody else done this sort of thing?

I tried to make one myself with this leather band, you know the kind some people wrap around wrists or put pendants on. But I couldn't make it stable enough and it seemed like it could rip anytime. do you have a foto of yours?

I have a couple of straps here by BJ Bignell (currently on a 1year trip around the world) that are similar.
