camera suggestions for son

I'd recommend a canon AE1-Program if you want to get him an SLR. FD Lenses are dirt cheap, as are the bodies in perfect working order. There's also the Canonet. Mine set me back around $20 in mint condition, completely operational maybe 18 months ago on ebay. The max iso is 800 though, and the top end shutter speed 500, not sure if that will matter though.

If your son was a little older a Canon A1 might be in order, but I don't know if it'd be too heavy/big for a 9 year old. Sad to think they can be had for around $50 in excellent condition these days (in black paint too)

A camera for learning, for letting it fall down, for losing it...

KEH's bargains today:

Nikkor 50mm f/2 $59
Nikon FE2 $109

How much is the M8? And with the Asph. 50mm? It must make photographs with better tonal gradation and sharpness...

🙂

I'll suggest a Petri Color 35. Small and easy to handle and capable, IMO.

OR, how about a half-frame? More shots per roll, more chances to 'experment'.
