Hi! I am thinking about getting a used Ipod 4G or 5G to take instead of my laptop on some trips.
Now a simple question: Could I use it to transfer images directly from the camera onto the Ipod touch (also as backup) and preview jpegs (Leica X2)? With the older ones this was not possible, but perhaps now it is?
If so - also with the 4G?

EDIT: removed incorrect information. The current Camera Connection Kits are ONLY iPad compatible.

Hi! Thanks! Are you sure the camera connection kit works with the Ipod touch (it is designed for the Ipad, no?)? It sounds like you use this adapter on an Ipod TOUCH?

WHOOPS! Well, this proves you shouldn't post before the coffee starts working…
You're absolutely right, I checked Apple's specs again and they are indeed only iPad compatible. Which I should've known, but I only used my kit on the iPad anyway…
It's a shame they're not compatible. Especially since the REALLY old iPod fourth and fifth generation - the ones with the scroll wheel - had their own connection kit. Apple still makes one like that called the Classic 160 GB, but I'm not sure if the old kits work with that…
Apple does like to confuse the issue :bang:

I use the eye-fi cards on my M8. It uploads to my iPhone, and to Mac Book & iPad through the photo stream. You can set it in direct mode and view you photos as you shoot them.

Thank you both!
The Eye-Fi card is an option, but I think a used IPad Mini Retina may be the way to go.

Some f the Eye-Fis only to JEPG. The X2 cards have some limitations on RAW. You may need a special app from either Eye-Fi or a third party to view a RAW image on an iPad or iPod.

Cheers for the heads-up. jpeg is fine - its really meant for preview only and the odd selection of images together with others.
