Is cameraleather.com still an active business? I purchased a kit, and have heard nothing from Morgan Sparks. I know others haven't had good experiences either. After seeing so many griptac leicas out there I figured it would be a rather easy transaction. I decided to not take chances and order a kit from Aki Asahi, they contacted me immediately, and were ready to ship in hours! I feel like I should just kiss my $25 goodbye.

Give it time. You might get your material soon. You might need to follow up with him. You might not ever get a reply, your order or a refund.

I've had very good experiences with Aki Asahi, although the choice of materials and supported cameras is smaller.

I too had a unpleasant experience with Cameraleather. There was no reply after I confirmed the purchase. I gave him some lead time before I started the refund process. During that wait, my Aki Asahi kit arrived faster than the refund or any reply from CameraLeather.

Why doesn't he just put the site out of its misery and take it down. I can't imagine it actually takes terribly long to punch out leatherette (given you have the material and tooling).

I only ordered from cameraleather once (last year), and the order was completed quickly and correctly. That said, it was very simple - just a single uncut sheet of material - and there was no communication, but the item did arrive within a very reasonable timeframe.

Just got a refund. Weirdly enough I'm starting to dig the two tone look of my camera right now

I've only had one experience with his shop - griptac for an M5. That was a few years ago, I didn't have any problems. It shipped quickly - I must have gotten lucky. I never actually applied the griptac though (having decided that griptac is kind of ugly and the Aki Asahi looks much better).

Ordered some cover from him before Christmas in Japan and as I was traveling, I asked him to deliver it to my parents house back home halfway around the world and sure enough, it was there.

The only issue I had was that the idiot postman folded it half as stuffing it into our post - but that wouldn't be the senders fault would it.

Only good things to say about the service from my end. Perhaps a hit or miss....

I've ordered at least a dozen things from him, even sent him camera bodies to cover. I've always gotten prompt attention.

It's a bummer Morgan has lost interest...or worse. I covered both of my Bessa R's in his GripTac and have never had any reason to replace it. A few years ago he seemed on point. Shame. Aki is great as well, however and it's good that there is still at least on viable option for those looking to breath some life into their cameras.

i have ordered multiple leathers from him over the years, never once have i had any issues --- have a new one for my iid, decided it was time to change from claret to black

It's like hit or miss with cameraleather. My first order was fast and easy, my second order last year kinda rough. I placed an order and hadn't got any reply for 2 months. After countless email to remind them, finally they ship it out. I'm planning to get another cover, but this time I'll try aki-asahi since I heard nothing but a good thing about them.
