Cameraleather.com ?

Interesting. I placed an order for two covers from Aki Asahi as the camera leather site seemed broken. I used camera leather several years ago and was very happy with the product, but the site back then was also fully operational.
I would have preferred them over Aki Asahi as the products seem more elegant. Ah well. Nice thing about Aki is they emailed me a note saying they were refunding me 5% as it was a multiple order! Did not see that posted on their website.
If the Aki stuff does not look good, then back to camera leather for me.

Any positive news from camera leather lately? Since my new acquired m3 deserves a dress up.

I placed an order a few days ago, received a confirmation email the next day saying I will be informed once the product is cut and shipped.
So, we'll see.

I've used Aki- Asahi before ( as well as Cameraleather) and while Aki is very quick and professional, and their kits fit perfectly, the quality of the leather does not compare once you stray from the basic black/blue standard colour and finish. Their other colours (brown, red etc) are very plasticky looking in comparison.

I placed my order 10/15/2015. It is now 12/02/2015 and I have not heard anything after the initial immediate confirmation, despite two polite follow up emails.
I'll wait until the New Year and then follow up. (I'm actually in no great rush but still would like to get what I paid for).

I just got a very polite, apologetic email from Morgan.
It is shipping today. Excited as my Leica 1f will be gorgeous wrapped in deep red leather! (The vulcanite has started to crumble).

Don't buy from CameraLeather.

You can apologize all that you want for him being "extremely busy", but that doesn't validate his horrible track record of not delivering his product. Ordered a kit over four years ago, multiple e-mails with the original receipt... nothing.

Morgan does not care about his customer base, and his business should not be promoted or supported until he gets his act together.

I'm not going to apologize for his tardiness or lack of communication. I just know that the previous leather kits from him were of a much much higher quality than others I had used so I was willing to go that route again.
I've also used Aki- Asahi and while they were very professional and shipped promptly, the quality of the leather is very plastickly in look in comparison. (but does fit perfectly just like cameraleather).

We'll see what happens when/if it shows up...

I purchased a skin for my Olympus RC a few years ago no problem, and several months ago I received a skin for a Rolleiflex 3.5E, again no problem. Nice products, quick response and delivery. Not sure why my experience is so different, but I am happy with the service and would buy again.

The leather showed up and it looks gorgeous. Cannot wait to recover my 1f. Will post pics after I do (hopefully this weekend)

So. While it looks nice on the camera, it is not perfect like the ones I bought from him for my M3s. This one is just under a mill too narrow (top to bottom) and about 1 mill too short. There is a slight gap both where I start and where I end, so it's not from me starting either too long or too short.
The camera still looks very pretty, and my gf loves it. But will I do this again? Hmmm. Maybe next time I'll just get the black replacement from Aki-Asahi and forget about colours.

p.s. the red is actually more subdued than this. The most accurate rendition is the second pic. Blame my iPhone.

I have good experience with both, got a griptac from cameraleather for my 1975 Oly Trip 35 on time and everything perfect and also some items from Aki Asahi for my Leicas and also top service.
I have noticed that cameraleather's website is not working fine now, would love to order some leather but maybe I will do it myself.

I've never used camera leather but used Aki Asahi for a number of cameras to my satisfaction. If there's a leather he has on his site, but not listed as applicable to the camera/pattern you want, you can always ask him. I did once and he obliged me - but only after he went to the leather merchant he dealt with and had the leather in question thinned down to the appropriate thickness for the camera.

So I found him easy to deal with and very helpful. At least he seems to always respond to emails and messages etc. Plus living in Australia, he's just 'up the road' as it were.

Cameraleather.com?

Cameraleather.com?

The last time I ordered from Cameraleather it took more than two years for him to fulfill the order, which was not a special covering. I would never do business with him again. It was difficult to get him to answer my email regarding expected delivery. Aki A. send my order quickly and often sends more than I actually ordered. RCB

Thanks Tyrone! I hear ya RCB, service is lacking but yours seems to be an extreme. I only used him because he offered leathers that Aki does not. If Aki had what I wanted for the project at hand, I would use him 100% ( I have before)

Not only does he offer a wide selection of coverings but he supports an enormous number of camera types. Until about five years ago his service was consistently excellent but then things turned.

I still use Morgan,

Never had to wait more than 2 weeks for a kit to arrive.

I always get an email back within a day of ordering.

Actually, I mail him just to talk about leather ideas for cameras.

Maybe I'm a preferred customer? He's a very nice guy!

If you can find it somewhere else, go, until then buckle up and bite down, because no amount of complaining will shift the demand from Morgan's product.

Aki Asahi has peanuts compared.
