Sure, for me, I would love a Rolex. Or a Tag Heuer. Or any of dozens of desirable high-end Watches!😂😂😂

But I have always been practical with Seiko watches and I’m even interested somewhat in a few Timex watches.
I’m thinking along the lines now of a watch to be a good match with an M2 sporting new tan leather, so, maybe something similar to a Seiko Prospex SSC817… (high-end for me!).



Of course, it will be awhile as I need to raise the funds for a new watch!🙄

Do you try to match your watch with your camera gear?

I could see myself wanting to dress better overall, but wristwatches don't seem to hold any special appeal for me. But I do very much like the idea of tie-ins to favorite movies and the like:

Matching watch with camera gear - well, nearly. Nikkor PC 85mm f.2 lens from the early or mid 1950's alongside an Omega Seamaster from the same early to mid 50's period. They both perform very well. Apologies for the indifferent photo.

What is the "Turler" on the face of the Omega -- the retailer? I didn't think Omega did that sort of thing though.

I have a number of watches but generally I like inexpensive automatic diver style watches with decent movements (Orient, Invicta). A couple of Seiko 5s. I got a nice Alpina Startimer quartz (rewards points through my work). A basic Casio G-Shock. Oh, and a decent Submariner replica. Plus others. But I don't match them with the camera I'm using.

Nick, I am not a wrist watch specialist although I have a very modest collection. My brother from whom I received this Omega many years ago certainly is and he told me that Turler was, and maybe still is, a prestige watch retailer which began in 1883 in Bielle,Switzerland. Typing Turler Watches into your search engine will yield you more information than you probably need or want. When I did, I actually found, amongst other items, a piece about an auction of an Turler Omega Seamaster just like mine. You will see many high end makers including Patek Phillipe, IWC, Vacheron etc allowed their watches to be inscribed. The back of mine also says, "Sylvester W. Munn - $1,000,000 Club, Germany 1953 - Kennedy Agency. So I guess the first owner was Sylvester W Munn and the Kennedy Agency might have sold insurance. Tim

I don't have a lot of watches to match them with cameras - I only use one (maybe two) cheap watches that tell the time and that is good enough for me.

There is another RFF thread about watches and that sparked my interest in mechanical watches so I went and I bought an Orient which I absolutely love and never leaves my hand.



Orient was my first real watch as a kid and when I saw the logo again , I just wanted an orient watch and nothing else. Brand loyalty is such a strange thing.

Took this picture with an zuiko 28f/3.5 held reversed in front of my DSLR - worked pretty well as a macro lens.

Love the watches I see here!👍 I appreciate seeing what others enjoy.

This thread is really about matching your gear with a watch, or a selection of watches. It could be analog with analog which is my preferred direction these days. It could be a smart watch with the latest digital cameras. Or matching by color.

Maybe I’m the only one!😂

Just wondering… styles these days are pretty much a mix of anything. Dress watches with casual attire, and casual watches with suits. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Diver watches are classic cool.🙂 I had one or two over the years. As I have gotten older my tastes have changed, though. As mentioned in a “gentleman’s style” forum, above a certain age, one earns the right to wear whatever one wants.👍👍👍

But nowadays, although I shoot Medium Format digital, daily (no longer for hire), I prefer shooting film and manage to shoot far more film these days than digital.

I guess it is the same reason why I prefer old school steel bicycles over the carbon fiber Trek I used to ride. Without electronics. And… the list goes on,…😂

As I wait for the sunrise to bring
surprises from the garden each morning, I like to contemplate what brings me joy for the day and I can think about small things like this. LOL.🙄

I am not so much into fashion (or fetish) to match my cameras with watches. I wear watches based on circumstances - Omega Speedmaster Professional for some important events. Garmin Forerunner 735TX for everyday in the summer and Nokia (Withings) Steel HR the rest of the season (due to size - Garmin is too big with coats, it is just uncomfortable).
And cameras I chose based on what I want to shoot.

Just an observation, that is an old thread with a lot of broken links but very nice presentations since 2020. It’s a thing these days… 🙄

Thanks again for the link, I really love your posts! Since my trusty (very old) Seiko died an untimely death last year, I have really missed having an analog watch… can’t wait to get one. Then I will post it here!😇

Very interesting, Tim. What little sense I have of this is that the retailer's name on the watch face doesn't hurt the value of the watch -- it was a common practice. I also don't think that engraving like yours has harms the value either (if professionally done like on yours).

Beautiful! My Orient Ray II is the same blue, looks like yours also has the subtle sunbeam effect. Mine has started to pick up some marks and is no longer pristine, but I like it better that way.

Zorki-3M: a little gem, I use it with care, it is like driving an old car on weekends.
Vostok Amphibia: a reliable workhorse, a no-brainer for daily use. In this case I installed a custom bezel for better task tracking.

Vostok Amphibia: a reliable workhorse, a no-brainer for daily use. In this case I installed a custom bezel for better task tracking.

Oh man! I've wanted an Amphibia for a long time as well! Nice choice of dial, there is a dizzying array but I'm quite partial to the black diver, as well as the teal one. Nice bezel! I actually use my bezel surprisingly often.

I had a Komandirskie, but it died a couple of years ago -- something broken in the movement. I had it maybe eight years. No one locally will touch it; no surprise since Vostok watches are not common here. I liked that watch a lot. Maybe an Amphibia is in my future -- hopefully it'll last longer.

What are those earbuds on the Zorki? 🙂

Those look like Peak Design anchors. I just ordered more of them so I can quickly switch my strap between my K-1 II and MX.
