Can anyone recommend a nice make of Hip Flask and/or Single Malt . . .

I have both silver and stainless steel. Insofar as there is any difference (and I'm not sure there is), I think it tastes better from the silver, but that may just be sentimental attachment (it was a 21st birthday present) or even just tasting what I want to taste.

Exactly, no way of telling. And probably old stuff's about labelled as though lead free. Best to swig from the bottle...

PS Shouldn't you be drinking Cognac? And buying it en vrac? I mean, supposing the police stopped you on the way back from the shops and found you were carrying whisky?
