Can anyone show me photos made with an R-D1 and a Summilux 50 ?

I just bought the R-D1 with two lenses: the CV 28F1.9 and the CV nokton 50F1.5. I have a couple of leica lenses: a summilux 50, a summicron 35 (1st 8 element version), a summitar LTM 50. I was wondering how these leica optics perform on the R-D1, and would be grateful for pics made with them.

You mean the Summilux asph? Fantastic lens at f/1.4. Excellent one at slower apertures if you don't dislike rather sharp bokeh.
Here the cranes would have been softer with the Summilux pre-asph. Wish i had it in my bag.

Wouter -- are you talking about the asph or the pre-asph? i have the pre-asph (2nd version) and it's quite gorgeous on the R-D1. i won't bore you with pics if you're asking about the asph... it is definitely one of my favourite lenses as is the 1st version, 8 element cron you mentioned you have as well. i find both lenses plenty sharp for my needs, but i'm looking for character and draw rather than razor optics. your taste may vary.

This one with a late Summilux pre-asph at f/4. My favourite 50 for portrait. Earlier versions are less sharp at fast apertures but may have more 'glow'. Take a look at Cam's pictures and you'll want her old 'Lux right now.

this one i kept pretty low contrast, one of the pluses of old lenses IMO. with the pre-asph you can get truly wonderful tonalities, depending on how you work it.

i can't wait to see yours! i've become really intrigued with how lens take on slightly different characters with every camera their on. it was love at first sight for me with the 50 Lux on the R-D1 and the Cron is still astounding me daily. they mate really beautifully on the Epson and give it a more filmic look, IMO.

i loaned my 50 to a friend who's testing out the M8 and it was fascinating to see how the characteristics of the lens translated. i suspected when i saw the glow (he only has the new 28mm Elmarit and 75mm Summarit) and then knew when i saw the flare 😛 it doesn't do it often, but...

anyways, thought this might help you see how the same lens retains its basic tendencies and characteristics regardless of body -- he used it in the basketball shots.
