Well, my R-D1 just arrived, bought from a member in CA. It gets dark here early these days but I just had to play with it.

I have to say, the three things I like best about it thus far are:

1. I can use it with the LCD flipped closed, and without going into the menu once for the usual adjustments. You forget that it is digital. :)

2. The VF is big and bright. That's what I hate most with DSLR's - tunnel vision.

3. It is a rangefinder. I can handhold it as steadily as my other cameras.

So far, everything looks good!

Here's a test shot (jpg) at iso 800, Summicron 35/2 ASPH wide open.

Bravo, nice pic. And welcome to our world! Even though you will use the camera with the LCD flipped in I'd recommend putting an adhesive LCD screen protector on it. It scratches very easily.

Congrats Ray. The photo looks nice, and I like the painting you've focused on very much (unusual for me, as I don't generally go for paintings).

Thanks. I can't believe I did not try this camera earlier.

I have to show Rover... ;)

It was either the painting or my face. :)

I'm not sure but isn't RFF the place for R-D1 users? Does anyone know of a site with more of them?
