I'll cast another vote for Artisan & Artist. Polished, classy, modern, without the safari look of the Billinghams.

Billingham is a good choice. I've one that has been around the world since 1982 and it still looks new. Great quality.

Thank you for all the great responses! These are some great ideas...
Today, I ordered a "Billingham Hadley Shoulder Bag Small", in black canvas, brown straps, brass fittings.
But, Mr. Michaels and Mr. MWooten make an important point ...maybe I'll need two bags.
I never knew about Fogg and Filson Bags, so I'll check their products. And that Wotancraft "Ryker" looks just dandy...a little too "handbaggy" perhaps...but good quality...

Maybe the second bag could be the Domke F5XB White House Press Photographer's special edition? That's kind of formal, no?

This is as critical as the decision to use a black or chrome camera body / black or chrome lens.
With a Tuxuedo it must be a chrome body and lens. It is written.

Finally at home...
Billingham, yes.
On a tighter budget, a Kalahari bag in grey. The K-12 should suit you. I love mine.

The problem with Billingham andd Fogg bags is they are quite dowdy.
Some good options in leather:
Wotancraft Ryker: http://www.wotancraft.com/shop/bag/ryker
Hard Graft Frame1 Camera Bag: http://www.hardgraft.com/products/frame1-heritage
Monochrom dothebag mono 09 http://www.monochrom.com
Otherwise pretty much any messenger style bag or book bag will work with inserts.
