I don't see much of a difference between the two. For me that indicates that the old lens is plenty good enough for everyday use and I'm glad I don't have to replace my 8-element for a newer version
. However, you have them both now and given its collector status, I would probably sell the 8-element for a profit (unless you are a collector also
)

quality to price matters more than canada or germany.. I am sure you'll find difference in quality when you find both around same prices. Less dust inside , less scratches , cosmetic condition etc

The 8-element summicron is a fantastic lens in the way it handles. Having used the 35/2 Asph before this one, I can honestly say the 8-element handles better. The 35/2 Asph is sharper wide open, but weighs almost three times as much around your neck.
