Great photographs. Some of them exhibit a very pleasant paint-like appearance.

Cheers,

I agree; these photos look great.
I have been looking for a Heliarlens, but I don'tknow whether the 50mm/2 is as sharp as the 50/3.5.

Thanks for the comments Abbazz and Raid, here's another example from this roll, taken inside a dark restaurant, wide open..I think it's pretty sharp !..

Raid,

I don't own a 50mm/3.5, but from what I have seen and read about this lens, I don't think the 50mm/2 is as sharp as its elder brother. But being a Heliar formula lens, it exhibits the qualities that made its glorious predecessors so famous (think of the legendary Voiglander Germany apo-lanthar of same optical formula): it has nice out of focus areas rendition, very pleasant colors, and it's not an overly contrasted lens, making it very suitable for portraiture. Just like on this great picture from B_Algood that I borrow from another thread:

I doubt the f2 lens will be as sharp as one of the sharpest lenses ever made, the f3.5 version of the Heliar, but sharpness isn't everything.

For me it's plenty sharp with my only 2 nit-picks being that it vignettes a bit wide open and it has a rather paltry 1 meter closest focusing distances.

agreed, but that other black and white shot posted seems to have a little bit of that going on too, kinda icky looking IMHO, looks kinda like my gf's panasonic fx9 photos at 100%
