Cannot look back.....lens sellers remorse - post yours

Several years ago I sold all of my Canon FD equipment, two F1's and lenses from 24 to 300mm, to Keh in trade for a large format lens. I don't regret all the use I've gotten out of the LF lens, but now that I have a Fuji XE-1, I wouldn't mind still having the 100/4 macro and extension tube, which I could pair with a cheap converter to use on the Fuji. There are plenty of good 50-60mm manual focus macro lenses out there from many manufacturers, so I could get one and an XF converter easily enough. I do have a Visoflex and bellows and the parts to use them for macro on the Fuji, which works great, but isn't very portable and not at all hand-holdable, and the Fuji 60/2.4 macro is a bit more than I'd like to pay for a lens I wouldn't use all that often. I'll probably get a used Fuji 60/2.4 eventually anyway.

I get remorse even just thinking about selling my Zeiss C Sonnar 50mm!

No huge seller's remorse stories, but the worry of it sure is what keeps me from selling lenses.

I sold the first J3 that Brian created for me from parts before he did this for others. It was hellish sharp, but the front looked crooked to my eyes. Big mistake! It was a very sharp J3. I learned my lesson not to sell a lens that is very hard to replace.

Everything else that I have sold is either replaceable, or I have gotten something better for my use.

I'm selling my Olympus 35-100 f/2 zoom. I know I'm going to regret selling that lens. It was THE reason to own Olympus.

I've bought and sold a dozen camera systems over the years... and two or three of those were Leica kits. The price of readmission this time has been pretty high, but I've got a nice lens lineup from 28mm to 135 and a mix of mid 1960s Leitz glass and later CV glass. I've picked carefully and gotten exactly what I wanted for reasonable prices.

The first M4 variant I owned was an M4-2 that I bought in 1980 nearly new-used. I took that camera a lot of miles. I really miss it. Now that I'm reinvested in M glass, I check the "usual suspects" pretty regularly to see if I can pick up a good deal on another M4-2... just for old-times' sake. I missed a nice one last week for $699, but after spending nearly $10k in six weeks on two bodies and six lenses, I just can't justify it yet. Maybe someday.

Eons ago I got a really nice deal on a Leica M4-2 body with a 90mm Tele-Elmarit that had a front ring (not element) scratched like someone had done a piss-poor job trying to remove a filter. I used it a few times, it made wonderful images, but sold it because I already had a Summicron of the same FL.

I regretted putting it up on eBay, hoped nobody would buy it, even though I needed the cash. It sold for $273... I never forgave myself for selling it; the cosmetic flaw could have been fixed with some black marker. I keep trolling sites in search of a good deal for one of them, but the market is rigged and they don't go for less than $700.

Sold my 75mm Summicron on this site last May to buy a 50mm Summilux Asph. Now I'm looking to acquire another one since I miss the focal length so much. But I will have to either sell or trade my 50mm to buy it. Go figure....🙁

I miss my CV Color Skopar 35mm, f2.5 PII... 🙁 It's so small, feels well built and the pictures were so nice... It was a perfect companion for my M2.
Actually I miss that lens more than the Leica Summarit 35mm I had for some time too - I'd even say I don't miss that Summarit a single bit.

Regret selling my nikon primes, when I was only shooting Leica M's, but such is life, if we're always looking back we can never move forward. Generally any funds from sales of camera equipment have been channeled towards other camera equipment for me, allowing other opportunities or experiences, so can't really complain.
