Item 130246353033. Item was incorrectly listed as an SLR lens, had a single horrible quality picture posted, minimal information, and looks pretty dusty, too. On the other hand, the lens looks just like my 100/2 LTM, appears to have a black Canon "A" cap on the lens mount, and the serial number matches Type 2 of this lens on Peter Kitchingman's website. I figured it was worth a fairly low bid.
The lens did not draw a single bid until the last 30 seconds of the auction, and only 3 bidders total. I will let you know how the deal turned out once the lens is delivered.
I just love mis-categorized auctions.

Congratulations! A fine bargain indeed! I saw the listing with less than 2 minutes left. Not enough time to verify the item before it was over.

Congratulations, Mark.
Now the buying offer that I have to get a Canon 100/2 suddenly is way too high!
I am not buying.

By the way, the serial number which I was trying to verify on peter's site shows this to be a very early Type 2 lens, possibly produced in 1961. There is no picture on his site.

Good deal, probably.
Between all these newer 100/2 Canon lenses, these ones are hard to pick out....

Congrats. It sure does look like the 100/2 in LTM.

A recent listing for a minty version with third party front lens cap and original Canon rear lens cap and case.

A decent price, but certainly not the bargain that mark got.

I've finally found one in a good condition and for an acceptable price. Even with the type of rubber cap I prefer.
Here it is. And I have to admit, it looks cool on the Canon P and it's not too big for good handling. But sure it's a big lens and anything but unobtrusive, therefore not streetphoto-like as the 100/3.5 is. Single helicoil, heavy masses, long way, slow focussing. Mainly an indoor portait lens. Very much like Nikkor 105/2.5 either, which weights even more.
And here there are alltogether for size comparison (the Nikkor 85mm is the smallest here). this assembly cries for a comparison...

Sonnar, that it an impressive line-up of lenses. I have a set exactly like it, except your 85/1.8 is in better cosmetic shape than mine.
BTW, just got the $104 Canon 100/2 back from a CLA, and it is silky smooth and beautiful, and in better cosmetic condition than my existing 100/2.
This latest lens and other recent acquisitions means that I once again have multiple copies of a couple of lenses, and will probably put a 50/0.95, 100/2 and a black 100/3.5 up for sale soon.
Also, furcafe's posted photo reminds me that I really like the OOF rendition of this lens wide open, and that I really need to get out and use it more.

What amazes me is the difference in coating: the 100/2 is brown (like the 50/1.4) where the 85/1.8 is purple, but more redish than other CANON RF lenses of the 60s. Different than the Nikkors, which all have the same blue coatings.

US$375 seems like a decent price. Especially if it's a good copy optically and cosmetically.

For 375 USD you can expect very good condition outside and pristine glass with no wear visible at first sight, with at least one genuine cap included, better both, and maybe case. A lens which you look on, and use with joy, and take care when using, but would not require gloves when taking it out.
I paid less but got no case. I have too many cases for my storage room anyway, but I look for a good frontcap with any lens I buy and intend to use. With the rear caps, I very much prefer the later, serrated plastic caps, which fits so nicely to the 35/2, but they seem to become rarer each year....
