I just wanted to know if anybody has a spare Canon 25mm viewfinder spare or about to sell one (like everybody has a spare one of these!) Getting a nice low serial version and I don't have VF to see what I'm doing.
Thanks all.
Thanks all.

These Canon VF's are more rare than the lenses. I'm looking for a 85mm brightline Canon finder at acceptable cost for two years now!
Buy a Cosina 25mm VF cheap. Better for your eyeglasses too (if you need them)
cheers Frank

I'm pretty sure that Canon made two type of 25mm viewfinders, one with the automatic parallax correcting pin (for the V, VI and L series cameras), the other with a manual parallax adjustment lever. If you do end up with a Canon viewfinder, be sure it's the one that best fits your camera.

Actually the 25mm doesn't have any parallax correction (at least the one I have doesn't). The parallax correction started with 28mm and above.

Scott,
You must have the 25 finder with the parallax correcting pin. Canon definitely made a version that came with a parallax correcting lever where you manually keyed in the distance setting. Hooper, in his excellent Canon rangefinder series in the LHSA, shows pictures of both finders.

I'll have to check my finder again when I'm back home in a few days, but from what I remember, it mounts rigidly with no movable parts. I just looked at the two 25mm finders listed on KevinCameras, and sure enough, one of them has the manual parallax correction dial (link here). The other one listed here is the type I have, which, although missing the dial, does not have the movable pin (such as seen here in a 35mm finder). Looking at the images of the second 25, the movable pin and the hinge in the finder base are both missing. I was actually somewhat disappointed when I got my 25mm that it didn't have this feature, as I like this feature of my other canon black finders. It would be interesting to see if there was a version of the square 25mm finder with this pin. There was, apparently, a completely different type of 25mm finder which _did_ have the auto-parallax correction pin. This pacificrimcamera.com page has some pictures of it if you scroll down to the bottom. This was another whole series of "erect image viewfinders" from 25mm to 135mm which, in appearance, are single focal length versions of the zoomfinders (i.e. from the rear, they look just like the zoomfinder. While they aren't brightline finders, they do have adjustable diopter correction built in. They're also apparently quite rare -- the only erect image finder I've ever run across personally is one of these in the 85mm focal length.

This (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7567426707&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT) recent closed eBay auction was for the "with pin" type. Very scruffy condition, one of those "we sell it for you places", $112.49.

Ahh, so it is. So there must be 3 different versions of the square 25mm finder. I guess it's good I didn't see that closed auction earlier -- I may have bid on a finder I already had just to get the parallax correction.
Oh, well -- for 25mm it's not so important anyway.
