Canon LTM Canon 28/2.8 History?

It looks like I've located a potential 28/2.8. I don't have that Canon rangefinder history book yet. Can anyone tell me if the lens changed at all over it's history? Were there different versions? I want to get a lens just like the one I borrowed from a friend of mine. I can call him to get the serial number if that will help me determine when his lens was made.

It look like this is a question for the true Canon rangefinder historian-enthusiast.

In answer to your question, I referred to the Canon Museum, which is an excellent resource for all things Canon:

They indicate that there was only one 28/2.8 LTM lens made - unlike other series such as the 28/3.5. Here are the specs:

Thanks Bill. I actually am not quite new but for whatever reason, the system would not let me log in even after I requested and received a new password (kept getting a 404 error). Very frustrating.... So...I registered all over again but I'm AKA sreidvt, photographer from the frozen north and sometimes camera reviewer for LL.

Thanks for the info. If there was only one 28/2.8 made that's great news for me. I hope the one I found this morning is a good example. If anyone else has 28/2.8 info, please feel free to jump in.

Hi Joe,
I'm guessing our new?? member is from balmy Vermont, not quite the semi-eskimos that live waaaay up north here in Canuckland.
 
Santa?? (imagine the voice of a large M&M). I ordered the 28/2.8 from a shop in Long Island and it apparently has perfect glass. He has one more, if anyone's looking, for $320ish with a couple fungus spots. If interested: JImmy at 516-826-9566

I don't believe its the same one but I'm no expert. It's the same one I used on the R-D1 when I did the first review.

Hi Sean, how compact is this lens? What is the filter size?

I have been shooting a lot with my 21mm last night and today, but I am longing for a "fast" compact 28 right now. I fear we will see a lot of my knees in the 21mm field as I have been squeezing into some tight spots to take some shots of my son playing, and I am far from as flexible as I used to be.
