Canon 35/1.8 price

Is this a fair starting price for a Canon 35 1.8? It seems like a good sales price though.

It looks as though you can buy the extended warrenty for $30 and send it in for a cleaning of the oil on the aperture blades within 2 years. That's not bad!

I think I saw another one listed last night for a lower starting bid in what I thought was in decent shape.

Based on reputation alone, I would prefer a 35/2, but have tried several times on eBay and photo.net, and either got outbid, or was too late. I believe that the 35/1.8 is a fine lens, and a definately a step up in performance from my Serenar 35/3.5.

If it doesn't go much higher, that's a pretty good price. You just missed a 35/1.8 with Canon L-1 combo which went for $361. Above $350 and you should be looking for a 35/2 instead.

It was actually a 35/1.8, but it was still a steal. If I didn't have a 35/1.8 already I would have grabbed that combo.

i wouldn't pay 300 for the 1.8 even tho it seems like a fine lens.

that is 35/2 territory, which deserved or not, has a better rep and is easier to re-sell.

my 35/2 even came with 40mm a hood.

Thanks for the responses everyone, but given the small increment in price as judged by RFF members, I will probably wait for a good deal on a 35/2.
