Hi,All!

I have the above lenses coming to me in the mail.
I was wondering what are their filter sizes and where can I get filters\caps\hoods(I need functional - not collectible ones).

Thanks
Mike

These are 40mm threads, I believe. You can get good hoods from Stephen.
40mm filter are sometimes available new at Adorama (or you can order them via Adorama).

Roland.

The chrome 35/2.8 is 34mm and the newer black & chrome is 40mm.

Edit: you beat me to it.

William

40mm filters are pretty much unique to the Canon RF lenses. They are rare in "cheap". One possibility is Walz filters, some on ebay now (130090403039).

Practical solution is to get a 40mm to 43mm or 49mm step-up ring from eBay seller heavystar, and use the more common filter size.

The real Canon approach was to use their hoods, which consisted of a series adapter ring and hood, and you sandwiched in a Series VI or VII hood (depending on the lens). The Canon rectangular hood for 50/1.8 and 35/2.8 (same hood) is really worth seeking out.

Kim, I will PM you when my lenses arrive and I know their diameter.
I want a yellow 40mm\34mm filter. Skylight\UV would be nice to.

For my Canon 50/1.8 - I got a 40-40.5 step up ring from Heavystar on flea-bay. Then I could find plenty of standard hoods and filters. Including his excellent 40.5 vented hood.

Also got a 39-40.5 step up, so I could use the same filters on my CV 35/1.7. I hate carrying multiple sizes of filters around when shooting.

I have 34mm, 39mm, and 43mm to Series VI rings. That way my meager collection of Series VI filters fit 5 lenses. I bought a set of 4 Series VI filters in a case for $1.00 on ebay last year.

Fortunately my Canon 35mm & Nikkor 50mm lenses came with the Canon round 35mm-50mm Series VI hood way back when.

Not that lucky. Postage was $12. GRRRRRRRRR! Of the 4 filters, the red & green are the only ones I use. The case is useable. The adapter rings averaged about $5 each. $25-$30 all up for a red & green filter to use on 5 lenses. I'm saving my pennies for some new B+W Series VI filters.
