As far as You know the filter size both 35 mm and the canon 50 f¡1.4 ltm are the same, and of course the s-50 hood dedicated for 50 mm f¡1.4 fits nicely on the 35 mm f¡1.5 ltm...
any advice on the performance of the 35mm with this hood? vigneting ? or is necesary found the w-50 hood for the 35 mm??
Regards.

Yes it will vignette. The 35/1.5 will even vignette with a normal thickness filter. You need what is call the W-50 hood.

Roland.

The W-50 hood is fairly short, and has quite a bit of flare to the sides (needed to prevent vignetting). I will measure one when I get home later this afternoon. You may be able to find a suitable aftermarket hood on eBay. I may even have an extra one in my stash of Canon stuff.

Roland, is that a Jupiter on your avatar camera?

bobkatz, I found an extra W-50 hood. It has a scuff on the side and some minor paint loss on the rim, but otherwise in good shape. Yours for the cost of postage as part of the RFF Christmastime giveaway. Send me a PM with your address, if interested. Pics show the hood on the Canon 35/1.5 lens.

Here's Mine on M5.

I've not been using a filter recently, but I like the W-50 hood on the 35mm F1.5 . When I use you use a filter, go for one of the original 48mm Canon Slimline Filters (in front in the photo). No vignetting at all, with any aperture, with these.

I have one of the 48mm Canon filters, but the B & W slimline filters work well too.

The 35/1.8 is very small, and i doubt it that the 50W would fit. I use on the 35/1.8 the lens hood that fits a J-8.

The 35/1.5 is a great choice on a Sony Nex.... BTW, using it on a NEX a S-50 standard hood will work, because it makes it a "55"...

I have seen a w-50 canon hood and seller says it is for 35f1.8 rf lens, is that true?
Joe

No it's not.
Canon 35/2 and 35/1.8 take 40mm filters.
Canon 35/1.5 takes 48mm filter like Canon 50/1.4.
Most of old rangefinder Canon hoods are "clamp on" type. They are 2mm larger than the filter size, of course.

That is why the W-50 fits a wide angle lens with 48mm filter size (35/1.5), the S-50 fits a standard lens with 48mm filter size (50/1.4), the S-42 fits a standard lens with 40mm filter size (50/1.8 or 50/1.5), etc.
And of course, T for telelenses.

..and there was *no* W-42 hood..!
The W-50 which is often announced as "rangefinder" hood, was probably intended to be a hood for the cheaper FL 35/3.5 SLR lens.
