Hi all
How serious do you think the aperture blade problem is with this ebay lens:

How much does a CLA on a lens like that go for?

Allan,
Could be a number of things wrong. Could indeed be a blade from a different lens, or a mangled one, or even a blade in backwards, though I doubt it...I think the blades usually have a cylinder on one end that fits into a grooved ring. I think this one is kinda risky. I bought the same lens (type) from ebay a while back, it had oily blades and stiff focusing. I fixed that and now it's ag great lens. I wouldn't take the same chance on this lens. I don't know where, other than a donor 50, you'd get the blade from.
Also, if you haven't ever pulled apart a lens aperture, it's a daunting (though fun if you're the type) challenge.
Hope this helps. My vote is pass.

Depends on your shooting style entirely. I cant remember stopping down to f8 in the past 3 years or so, so that lens would be fine for me

thanks for the advice. I will pass this time.
Before Sweeney's Jupiter 3 controversy, I was going to get one of those...

I think that's the right choice. Though Hans has a point. In Denmark the last time I was there, shooting with this lens on an M5, I never stopped down past 5.6 either. It lives for wide open!

hm. good point. eh, I'll see how the bidding goes. it looks like it might get close to being too expensive for me...
If the used CV 1.5 on CQ were a bit cheaper I'd just get that. argh.

Kaiyen,
I'd check flickr for some images from that CV Nokton. From what I've seen, the modern CV lenses don't always have bokeh that's pleasing to everyone.
