Does annyone know where I can find info for disassemble this lens to clean?
Can I get into the inside to clean some dust speck if I just remove the rear element?
Thanks

Reconsider opening the lens! A dust speck or a few shouldn't make much of a difference in your photos. Significant dust or haze would. Good luck!

Ditto, dust does NOT matter. Unless you have a "clean room", there will be more dust when you are done.

Haze matters. But Canon RF lenses don't tend to get haze.

Worth paying the $75 for a professional to do it.

To clarify, Canon RF lenses are much less subject to haze than the Leica ones of the same vintage.

The coatings are also much harder than Leica's, so one is less likely to damage the lens in cleaning. But avoiding dust is incredibly hard.

Thank all for your help.
I finally decided to disassembly the lens to clean it. $75 CLA+ shipping is too much for a $90 lens. I indeed work everyday in a class 10,000 clean room and even access to class 100 (particles per cubic) chamber but I don't think it necessary to clean a lens. I got some experience with other canon 50mm lenses.
I decided not to access thru rear element but, instead, open the front element because it has some haze on the third glass ( not easy to reach from the rear).
So far, it quite simple. I cleaned and I will put it back tonight. I will try to take picture at each step in case someone need instruction to clean their own lens.

Having owned more than one of the wonderful Canon 50/1.8 lenses, I'd be happy to see your notes/pics of the cleaning process.

Thanks!!

Hi William,
Please send me your email address for the note. I will try to send it through my hotmail. The file is too large to attached in this forum.

I'm done with this lens cleaning. Now I have a clean nice chrome 50 to go with my canon III
